Hi
I know this is a tricky one, but can these photos be confidently identified as a collared sparrowhawk and not a brown goshawk?
I think it might be a CSH because of the square tail and the curved bulge on the trailing edge of the wing. Happy for confirmation or correction.
Was seen gliding in circles over the trees over a forested park of the Lane Cove National Park in Sydney. Previous day i had seen a pair circling in same area but could not get a photo through the trees.
Thanks
That is a Pacific Baza.
Indeed, though it does look somewhat Accipiter-like in those photos.
Thanks very much Tim and Zosterops for the correction and quick ID! Much appreciated.
A good result for me as I have not seen a Pacific Baza before either.
Used to be called a Crested Hawk. Gorgeous raptors. LJ
