The Corvidae - Alwyn Lee

I recently found the Australian short story "The Corvidae" in a collection and enjoyed reading it again after many years. It is an amusing story and shows up some old attitudes of farmers (maybe some current attitudes as well?) to Australian birds. I kept thinking as I read it that it would be of particular interest to members of this forum. Its not easy to find, but should any BIBY members be interested to read it, perhaps the local library can get it for you.

Sounds interesting. I'll have to keep a look out for it in my local library.

I've got a sub-adult Australian Raven in care (permanent wing injury) and would love to know what its various calls mean.

Does anyone know where I can find this topic (communication in Ravens) discussed?

Have you tried googling the topic, Anne?

I saw a flock of crows (murder of crows?) fly over today, they dissapeared over the hills. I heard once they are the juvenile males, ejected from their territories by the parents. Normally we have one or two resident pairs in our valley, or maybe it's their valley.

Yes, WOKO, Google was the first place I tried, using various search criteria and following various links but could find no detail on line, though I guess it might be in print somewhere.
