Could this be a Red-necked Stint, non-breeding, 15cm?
It was hunting on a beach in the Kimberley’s WA in July, close to a Red-capped Plover family, but no others of its own kind.
It was a similar, MAYBE slightly larger size than the Red-capped Plovers.
As an inland person I struggle with Shorebirds so many similar birds and then breeding and non-breeding colours.
Yes, it's a Red-necked Stint.
Thank you for your reply. My book says found in very large flocks and this one was all alone, it made me doubt my identification.
