Beaut shots very picturesque, I also have one of these hakea's in flower at the moment too. It's just outside our family room window where we can observe what comes and goes to feed on it.
Hakea laurina flowers are certainly lovely. I have several of this species at my place, planted by the previous owners. A word of warning, however: Hakea laurina can invade bushland outside its natural range, especially in wetter areas. Hakea laurina growers outside its natural range have a responsibility, I believe, to remove any regenerating plants.
Not bad at all. Lovely looking bird. The only time I've seen this species was in Wollemi NP a few months back and I could not get anywhere near for a photo. well done
Thought I'd share this photo of a Wanderer Butterfly on a Hakea laurina flower at our place. It's not an encouragement to plant Hakea laurina - unless you live in its natural range on the south coast of WA.
Beautiful shots of an interesting bird on a lovely plant. Well done!
The second one reminds me of a plate out of one of those old school bird books, with the vivd foreground and pale background.

Very nice series Lefti, Love the Hakea and a beautiful bird to go with it and the bees love the flowers as well.
