Curlew Sandpiper?

Hi Everyone,

I saw this lone small wader with some Stilts and Greenshanks on a farm dam a while back.

Would you say it is a Curlew Sandpiper?

Thanks,

Curtis

Very hard to tell from that photo, but bill appears to be straight?, if so, then not a Curlew Sandpiper which has a downcurved bill. My guess would be Marsh Sandpiper. Did you take any notes?. e.g. Leg colour, Curlew Sandpiper has black legs, whereas Marsh Sandpiper has greenish or yellowish legs. What size was it, was it significantly smaller than the Greenshanks?

Cheers, Steve

Definetly not a Marsh Sandpiper, we see them there nearly every time, it was smaller like a Sharp tailed Sandpiper.

Yes significantly smaller than the Greenshank.

Sorry about the poor quality of the photo, I only noticed the bird in the background of the original photograph.
