I had the same thoughts as Peter, I wondered if the name suggests that "Donna nags"? But then again my husband gets angry when I call his horse a "nag". Only Donna can us?
I have seen those big fat ducks on lakes around here, would make a good fat stuffed duck. Sorry Donna, hope you have a sense of humour
Perhaps with some pancakes. Yes I do have a sense of humour. ;) The nags is a play on my surname although I am sure my husband thinks the name is appropriate sometimes. I think I am going to enjoy these forums. Thanks for your replies.
Further to what Peter said, I think all 3 ducks are feral mongrel domestic Mallard hybrids. The first one looks closest in plumage to a natural wild Northern Mallard, & last one looks like it might have some Pintail? in it.
Thanks Steve, I am a newbee at this bird ID game, guess that is why I was having trouble finding them in any books. I am imagine some people probably buy the ducks as ducklings when they are all cute, and then the grow bigger they just leave them at some pond and they interbreed.
I like honestly in forum names.
I usually say 'please tell us where the pic was taken as this can aid in the ID'.
In this case however, not necessary, as #1 & #2 appear to be a domestic 'something' and #3 appears to be a domestic 'or other'.
Peter
What does that mean Peter?

I meant that the ducks shown are feral cross-breeds
