Eastern Spinebill today

This girl has taken over the tiny Grevillia I planted in a pot. Her nest is very close by, so not far for her to feed. As I can't see the nest, (don't want to either, won't disturb her), hopefully I will be there when the young take their first flight.

Here she is"

Great photos(again), the female Eastern Spinebills must have similar plumage to the male ones, but in W.A. the male and female vary quite a bit.

I know, down here the females are smaller and a little bit duller. I understand over in WA the females look like the juveniles around my place?

Here is a photo of last season's juvenile. Do your female Western Spinebills look like that?

Excellent, M-L. You always get the colour and clarity spot on with these.

Wow, you have such a range of different birds in your garden. And they nest there!

Wonderful photos!

That the beauty of Australian native plants, some flower in winter and others in spring and summer. Spring is just around the corner (I hope?), and many more Honeyeaters will arrive in my garden. Can't wait.

Thanks for the nice comments guyslaugh

5 weeks to spring... Seems so far away... Why can't it get warmer already? Make the whole idea of getting up to go birding in the morning more pleasant?

I tried it the other day; when I saw the frost on the ground outside I slunk back inside and crept back under my doona.
