Another species which is now more regularly on our block on the s.e. slopes of the Mt Lofty Ranges is the Elegant Parrot. We've been seeing 4 or 5 every spring for the last 4 years & this spring I've seen up to 11. Each time there has been at least 1 young one seen (except this spring so far). The flock of 11 were in the vicinity of a dead Red Gum Eucalyptus camaldulensis with hollows but I've never seen an elegant parrot at a hollow in this tree. I need to be more observant next spring.
