Hello again fellow birdlovers :)
Been a hectic week workwise in the workshop , sadly not a lot of twitching , but some distraction did take place.
monday l saw two Pale headed Rosellas land out the middle of the 'paddock'. The grass is almost a metre tall [which l keep long for the smaller birds finches , wrens etc].
l snuck over and got this photo . The bird at top was actually laying down on its side! sunning itself?
lts partner was merrily grazing nearby [foreground]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wednesday morning about 6am there was much raucus activity about 50m from the workshop.
Magpies , Little friarbirds , willy wagtails and a butcherbird were going nuts near a large dense wattle tree.
Hidden in the darkness l saw a juvenile male Collared Sparrowhawk. He was tiny , not much longer than the Friar bird or butcherbird harassing him. Soon he'd had enough and scarpered , but l got two photos [for ID purposes] before he sought quiter refuge.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the afternoon when going to get a cuppa for smoko , l saw a group of Red Tailed Black cockatoos in a high eucalypt in the neighbours place! l ran for the camera but they took off , and flew right overhead! l really like how the fly , and their 'exicted' melodic chatter as they talk to each other :)
Over and out for now,
Barney.
Great shots Barney!
Black Cockatoo photo is fantastic.
Cheers
