Found in McLaren Vale, SA last October. Small bird, looks young, just starting to get some colouration in the feathers. My first thoughts were European goldfinch but would like some confirmation.

Looks like it with that yellow band on the wing.
I think so. The bill shape & yellow wing mark are indicators.
