Trying to sneek up on the Cormorant tree ,they all flew off and i turned and saw this little White fronted Chat watching me ,I thought he looked cute peeking around the stump then for a split second he hopped into the open

Like others, I've not seen one before either.
Where do you find them, around water, lakes wet lands I have never seen one more than a kilometer from a major lake or swamp but thats in my area S/W Victoria it might be different elsewhere.
White-fronted Chats used to be on our property before the revegetation took hold so I guess the species was favoured by open grasslands. They even nested low down in a very young ypress Pine Callitris preissii. However, I've usually seen them on samphire flats near both fresh & salt water such as in The Coorong in SA & around & in pasture near Lakes Alexandrina & Albert, also in SA.
At certain times of the year there are hundreds around the various ponds at the Werribee Treatment Plant. As you drive along they rise out of the grass. They are very shy though and difficult to get close to.
