I came across this small collection of feathers & wondered to which species they belong. My best guess is that they're from a local chook which a fox has carted on to our property.

I think that you must be right. We have chooks and their feathers look very similar.

Rufous/Nankeen Night-heron? Lorne, Bundanoon, NSW.
A couple of dams but no wetlands around where I live on the s.e. slopes of the Mt Lofty Ranges, SA, Lorne. So it's highly unlikely it was a Nankeen Night Heron.
