Lake Cargelligo is in mid-western NSW- out past Parkes and Condobolin. Its supposed to be a very good area for birding, as there is a mixture of arid and ranges species in the area. Never been there myself; its a bit out of the way, but it would like to visit the area one day.
What about a whistler of some kind? Although I'm not so sure about that, as whistlers have different shaped beaks.
I don't think it is a red capped robin (unless immature), as the females have a faint red cap as well. Could be a flame robin, but I don't know.
Looking at Eremaea, only Red Capped Robins are listed for the sewage treatment works, and it is a well documented site, so maybe something else?

See it! Hear it!
