Finches and Mannikins

I had a good day out today at Riverdale Park in Logan, because it was a bit cool this morning the birds were sitting in sunny positions everywhere. At first light there was a large group of Mannikins in amongst the Bull Rushes and a lot of them were young and juveniles. Later on I snuck up on some Double-barred Finches with juveniles and Red-browed Finches also with young ones.

I think once they had a look at how cold I looked it made them feel the cold.

If you were there early, Shane, you may have seen Barry with his camera.  He is just learning how to use it, and he knows I love the birds, so off he went again to try to find some.  He saw double bars but the pics didn't turn out.

Beautiful. I love the first one best, the colours and the light is just wonderful.

Sorry Karen I didn't see anyone else with a camera, but I was at the back of the second lagoon in amongst the trees.

Thank you M-L. That early morning light is beautiful, I would have liked to have one of the fluffy cotton bullrushes singled out with the young ones hanging off it, but I was already on my tip toes to get these photos.

These are such lovely shots. I adore the 2nd one. Sounds like a great place to go birding.

Thanks Tassie, Cath and Shane. It is a pretty good spot and that morning was one of those days when things go well for a change.
