This afternoon I was taking a stroll along the Brisbane River near work, when I stumbled across a pair of fisher folk hanging out together in the mangroves. The Darter is one I've seen numerous times in the same area over the past couple of years. There was also a juvenile Sacred Kingfisher sitting on a nearby branch.
Sun was in a bad place for it, but they were such cute birds.
Wow! such beautiful birds! And such beautiful photos! I love them, great job
I'm with Elsie, I think those are great photos , the way the sun shines through the foliage is beautiful, and the spiderweb is so delicate.

Yes great photos.
Very nice shots.
The feathers on front of the darter look so soft and fluffly. Love the way they can twist and scrunch up that long neck when preening and looking around.
I think they're beautifully back/side lit windshear and adds a gentle light to them all, while still managing to capture lovely detail and expressions. How wonderful to have this walk, and to see these, so close to your work.

The backlighting works well Windshear. Lovely shots!
Thanks guys. Took a bit of work / manouvering to get an angle which wasn't facing the sun directly, and wasn't blocked by tree branches. I just love the colours on the wings of the female darters (infinitely cooler than the males, but that's just my humble opinion).
