A little while ago, before I noticed his beak was in bad shape, Frankie turned up with a string around his neck. Some kind of netting. I caught him and called my daughter (a Vet –nurse) and while I held him, she removed the string. It must have been around his neck for some time, and he tried to get it off. As you can see, he had already ripped it. My daughter put some antiseptic stuff on it, and we let him go . I have seen him since, when he turned up with the sore beak. I have seen him since, the beak looks good. I think he got stuck in some netting, I do hope nobody is trying to catch him? He would be so easy to catch. I worry about him.
Wish Frankie well from all of us down here at my house.

O, thanks so much Dale and everyone, Frankie has become such a good friend to all of us.

From the pic it looks like a typical bird netting that people use to cover fruit trees, i don't like these nets.
Plastic snakes seem to work well with no adverse affects to the birds.
Glad Frankie is getting better.

Just hope he is smart enough not to go back to that tree.

Great news.
Looks like that type of netting must...have been a very tasty fruit. Hope it was not someone trying to catch him...family can be a pain at times ad
So you think Frankie damaged his beak trying to remove the netting, Araminta?
That's what I think, or when he tried to free himself from the netting over the tree. I had another look at the photos I took when I discovered the damaged beak, there was a white mark of some kind around his neck. (will see if I can find them)

Yes, that seems a reasonable notion. It'll be confirmed if his beak repairs now that he's netting-free.
Nice outcome. I'm glad there are people like you/us all around.
