Dear Birds in Backyards members and users,
As you are aware we have been rebuilding the Birds in Backyards site and forum and we are now ready to do the switch over. As a result of this the Birds in Backyards website will be offline from Monday 16th January and will be available again on the 19th January or sooner. We will send an email out letting you know when the site is live again.
Please bear with us while the site is offline.
Best regards,
Holly and the rest of the Birds in Backyards Team.
Thanks Holly - I'm looking forward to seeing the new site. It is amazing how well this one has lasted so ... kudos for that!

I'm looking forward to it, Holly. And thanks so much for your efforts. If the past anything to go by the future is well worth waiting for.
Thanks to both of you,
You all have been very patient in waiting for a new site I have promised for so long. It has been a difficult journey with little funding and next to no staff! The current site is wonderful but is very old with lots and lots of issues, making it impossible for me to develop new things on the site and deliver what I want to be able to with the program.
The new site looks VERY different - but it is fresh and bright - just like a backyard should be :)
Will we have to sign up again for the new site?
John
Good question Triker. Will "old people" like me have to learn new tricks? Will it be explained to us, if it is different? We shall have to wait and see. M-L

Hi guys
No we will be migrating the membership database across so all your current details will be there. If you are a member of the forum and a member of the whole website we will be merging your 2 accounts into one.
The forum should be easy to get the hang of but I will be around if anyone has any questions.
Cheers
Holly
haha,this gives proof that i've been a member since 2009 :p
not that it really matters...
My account says I have been a member for a year!!!! I have been on here since 2008 I think :)
I am just trying the reply link thing to see how it works Nathan.

Thats unusual birdie - it should have picked up longer than that! It could be taking from the time you have been a mod?
Ah maybe that is it Holly . I meant to ask you too, have we still got all the subscribe stuff that we used to have? Or is that now all gone to a fresh start with the new forum?

Thanks for all the time you put in to bring this about Holly. It is a lot easier to navigate and the site itself looks great!
There is a little tick box at the bottom of the section where you add new comments that says 'notify me of new comments' you can select or unselect that at any time.
Thanks Amateur
There have been some mixed responses, as to be expected with the site as it is a big change! Hopefully though, once we iron out the bugs, the vast majority of users are happy with it - that what I want!
The more I use it the more I feel it really is a matter of using it more and getting used to it.
I actually meant the old subscribes that we had before on the old site Holly ...are they still in use or gone? as in will we still get notifications for the ones we were subscribed to ?

I suspect they haven't carried over birdie but I am not 100% sure.
