Is there a law against having feathers?
I can see why deliberately setting out to have a collection would be bad but if they're just found on the ground is it ok to keep them (for educational purposes of course).

Goodness, I have never questioned the idea of not being able to pick up bird feathers found on the ground....a bit like picking up shells off the beach, I thought (or could that be a no-no too?)

Pretty sure picking up shells is a no-no.

I believe in QLD it is illegal to have either feathers or shells but as far as I know no-one has ever been prosecuted ( and neither should they). Eggs on the other hand should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and I have heard of this in the past.

In Victoria it is illegal to have native bird feathers.
Unfortunately if it was not so evil persons sould be able to either kill the bird or pull out the feathers without prosecution. I am sure permits may be given
under circumstances eg teachers etc,
