Hi am new to BIBY's. Wanted somewhere I could find out if anyone else who have Frogmouth Owls who yearly visit their back yard and have their young. Mine are here early like now insted of Aug-Sept. Anyone with any clues as to why?

When you ask questions like that Wallaroo it helps to say where you are situated. Welcome anyway but I have no answer for you. The Tawnies in my area have just reemerged after the Summer too. Don't know if they breed here or not though.

Hi woolaroo, I just found out, that in more arid areas the Tawny Frogmouth may breed outside August-Dezember, in response to heavy rains. So, maybe that is the case where you live?

So sorry, I should have called you:"wallaroo"

A lot of different environmental conditions can have affect on breeding behaviors etc. Sometimes if conditions are suitable and prey abundant then birds may nest more than once in a season. :)
One other thing though, they are not owls at all; they are more like a type of nightjar. Frogmouths lack the lethal talons that owls have for capturing and killing prey. :)
