Having bred Cockatiels in captivity and seen how some of them get rather stressed and bored in cages it was such a beautiful experience to see tiels in the wild in Aus. I mean I was like a little kid staring out the rental car window watching the horizon everywhere as I drove into rural farm country in QLD.
I hadnt counted on them being so fast! Man they can move and so so graceful! Also to see a wild flock scurrying along on the open forest floor in the Katherine region in the NT was amazing as well!
As per usual I have a youtube clip about it all... grin

Sounds like you are reliving your trip with each post Don :')
I think seeing any type of bird en masse and free gives us a special kind of feeling doesn't it? I love to watch the way they all fly together and turn in an instant. When I lived in NZ I used to love to go down to the mudflats where I lived and watch the waders...and think how far those little Godwits had travelled and would travel over the course of the year.

Yes birds in flight are amazing arent they? I think as I mentioned before what holds me spell-bound by parrots though is that for most people in the world they are first observed in cramped cages not flying wild and free. Free-flying parrots to me are such a powerful visual. I never get tired of seeing them.
