Hi all,
The wet summer here has the birds scurrying for shelter when they can, or just riding out the storms. A few pics from my back yard:
Rainbows riding out the storm
Getting gustier
Almost over now
Birds of a feather don't always flock together (Pied Butcherbird, Rainbow Lorikeets, Noisy Miners)
Hey timmo...... isn't it incredible this wet weather? I went for a walk between showers this morning and was lucky to catch heaps of birds out enjoying the break from the rain, but it is back now!
those lorikeets look absolutely sodden!

Yeah, birdie, the rain just keeps coming... the last shot was just an hour or 2 ago here.
.
Those lorikeets were amazing - they were hanging on for their lives in Thursday's big lunch time storm, while the tree whipped metres back and forth in wind gusts of probably 50kph or more. The photos really don't do justice to how dark and miserable it was.
Cheers
Tim

Hi, it's the same down here in Victoria. We have an old fridge under cover on the veranda, two King Parrots and one Bronzewing sat on top of it, to shelter from the rain. The dogs wanted to sit on top of me,because of the thunder,we are sooo sick of the rain!! Yesterday my daughter rescued 3 baby sheep , they are in the paddock huddled together under a tree, going baahh, everthing is sooo soggy... I WANT SUMMER!! (But then again, my husband just cracked it, got on the ride- on mover, and is moving the gras! (It's p....g down with rain)

It is sooooo wet everywhere at the moment... We have measured over 50mm of rain here so far today, and it is still raining! Well at least everything is green and lush at the moment - not brown and dead like it was two years ago! I prefer the wet, but this is starting to get a little crazy!
Called in to visit my parents this afternoon in the pouring rain.... there were 4 crested pigeons all puffed up in balls with their crests flat and they looked miserable sitting on the fence then along from them was an even more miserable looking noisy miner. then two more noisies came in and sat under the chairs on the patio. Mum said the butchers have been hiding out under their patio too. SHe has all her art stuff out there under a big sheet and bugger me if they hadn't pulled up the sheet and exposed all her beautiful sable and horse hair brushes......oops ! I told her to pack them up quick as the little monsters will strip the brushes quick smart LOL
