A couple of days ago I was sitting on our veranda watching a wedge tailed eagle soar around, it was close to a large partly dead gum tree about 100m away. It appeared to be soaring aimlessly then all of a sudden it changed direction slightly and took a bird out of an upper dead branch of the tree. I think it was a crow but am not sure as I was taken by surprise. It's mate soon appeared and they had a feast.
This afternoon I watched two swamp hens head for cover and when I looked the eagles were back and all the birds were headed for cover including a flock of egrets.
Several years ago I was birding around Forbes and I came across four wedge tails, two adults and two young birds. The adults were teaching the young to circle in a small clearing surrounded by tall trees touch the ground and take off again.
They repeated the exercise a number of times.
What magnificent birds.

Sounds interesting Le Loup ... are you from Canada?
Does that mean your name means the wolf?
I always feel that it is good medicine personally, to come across certain birds. No one has ever told me that it's just a feeling I get.

Hello, I've seen an adult Wedge Tail and what appeared to be a juvenile raid a crow's nest of its young on my property near Kyogle. Amazing!
