help with a name please

G'day everybody we are just back from BellBrae at Lakes Entrance - what a magic place. Little wood cabins just outside of town and surrounded by beautiful trees and BIRDS.

We had small flocks of a small bird about the size of a minor but it was an olive green with white bars and i cannot identify it in my books . there was also a pair of doves with patches of white.

Would really appreciate some help with a name for this bird - locals would see it every day - it was so beautiful in its green to mustard coloured feathers and the white bars seemed to " stitch it together"

Where were the white bars? Wings? Breast?

Could it be one of the bronze cuckoos? They are olivey / bronze and they have rufous or green bars on a white breast (so that could look like white bars).

Thanks Andy the bars seemed most noticeable on the back and sides and the bird had a beak that was short and stumpy like on a finch but bigger.
