how to d/load picture

Hi Birdies, can I get `foolproof` advice how to upload my picture to the `Forum`

Cheers

I use photobucket so that is my example.
www.photobucket.com

* sign up, it's free
* use the link to upload photo's either choose files (for 1 pic) or underneath that 'use bulk uploader' for several.
choose the size large (640x480) I think thats it anyway.
* Once they are uploaded , when you run the cursor on picture some links will come up underneath. Copy the direct link option by putting cursor on it and and right click. Then choose copy.
* Now go back to the bird forum and write this;

right click where the asterix is. DONT PUT THE ASTERIX THAT IS JUST TO SHOW YOU WHERE TO RIGHT CLICK
in the options you'll now see is paste. click on that.
now you will have
[img]http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll156/daggertowner/IMG_0033.jpg
now to end it you need to write [/img]

so now it reads

Now this link doesnt work solely because of the * towards the end. once you remove that * it will go like this. Despite the fact the above looks like it has spaces there are no spaces when you actually write it out.

well thats no good it tried to post the pics.
See thats what happens when the links arent right!
So this is it.

that should work

It keeps trying to find and post the non existant pic ergh. help...........

You know how to start the link. go back to my first post about starting it off.
when you right click and paste the direct link write [/img] at the end. So you have the same at the start and finish except the finish has the / .
remember no spaces.
Has that confused you. It has me so I'm off for a stiff drink.
But if you can follow that you should be able to post.

Hi Daggert
Valiant effort to describe a process.
I have been caught out myself using the codes to describe something, and the system recognises what you are trying to do and tries to publish your non-existent photo.
Its like making love - eventually, after being told by everybody, one has to learn - oneself.
You have earned that cool drink!

Hi Sookie
Follow Daggert with these changes, choose a smaller picture to upload, the suggested size of 640 wide will not show fully on the forum. Try to aim for around 500pix wide.
Then choose the the IMG CODE option, the last of the 4 given, copy and paste this directly onto the forum page and you should have a picute... just checking

Denis, also like learning to ride a bike.... ;-)

What is the differance between the codes any way? If the size is wrong thats cool. Like ed said....
I have always used the direct link and it works fine.
as in above pic.

Hi Daggert
Possibly no differance in the codes, just trying to make life easy, the 'IMG code' has the bracketed formatting tags 'img' and '/img' already included, so it's a straight cut and paste, no typing.
