Hi Gelmir, yes we often hear them at first light when bushcamping...but recently saw a family of three out hunting till 10.30pm catching bugs and stuff under some streetlights and thought it odd that they were up so late.....never seen it before or since...I have some sitting outside laughing at me right now for even asking such a question....cheers
Recently we have had one who has been out clubbing! He got home about 11pm & told the neighbourhood he had made it home safe & sound, LOL, but I think something may have spooked him. Char
Hi Birdboys, the 3 amigos we saw were hunting from sundown till late maybe there was less competition with other kookies it was in Gayndah right next to the river and not far from the pub looked pretty suss to us cheers
Our kookaburras are early risers up here, but over the last week we've had a family ( or whatever) of bats hanging out (pardon the pun) in a large tree next to our fence and they make a hell of a racket all night. it is the eeriest thing to be outside and have one swoop you in the moonlight. Quite ghostly actually!
There must be some very tasty berries on the tree as the lorikeets and noisy miners were at it the next day too when the sun came out.
Hi Sierran yes thats what i thought too, that they go to bed at sunset and bed down after chatting about the day and all the goodnight jonboys are done, but these 3 we saw were uplate and hunting tried to get a pic but of them but was tricky as you can see
they must be binurnal at times or these guys were just rouges love to know more never seen it before and we spend a lot of time out camping and travelling....got a few pics at website your welcome to have a look......cheers http://sites.google.com/site/gudachibirds/Home
Not sure jef, but I used to have a family of them that would sit outside my bedroom window and wake me up just as it was getting light most mornings.
