Sorry for the delay, I wrote a really long reply to help and the computer couldn't get through to the forum so I lost it in the end.
What I said was.... Firstly you have to open and account in a web hosting platform such as Flickr http://www.flickr.com/
You can't just upload your images straight from your computer to this forum. Once you have opened up the account then it will give you the options of uploading photos from your laptop. Click on "upload" and it will open a window to you computer and you need to find the Pictures file. I used to find it a good idea to make a folder separately for the pics I wanted to upload (reduced if uploading data allowance is a problem for you) and then always open that folder from Flickr to save time. Once you get to know things better you won't have to do this.
Once you have the images uploaded to your account at Flickr you can then insert their web location address into your forum message. There are specific codes you have to use to make them "live" on here but it is quite simple really.
Get your stuff uploaded first and then let me know and I will talk you through the rest of the procedure.
good luck
Can't help you with any of that stuff sorry. HAve never been closed out of anywhere.
As for the forum software..... I would think it is related to the fact that they can't or don't want to hold storage of every posters images .... it would rum into terrabytes after a while. it is fairly common practise to use an image location on many sites I think.
Google have a photo service called picasa, you can upload photos there to post to this forum. As far as I know they don't cancel your account the way other services do if you don't use them regularly.
Do you mean you want to post it onto this forum? Or add it to an email message?

I have promised it for ages I know (and I am so sorry for how long it is taking) - but there is a new forum coming early in the new year.
