G'day Hev, my first thoughts are library, tourist information,NRMA =freebies & possibly national parks.try the library (local) where you intend to stroll! good luck

Thanks for that, tried the TI -no luck, will try library. Whats NRMA?

Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best

If your in QLD NRMA =RACQ. Your best bet for walking in national parks and forests is the EPA. They have maps of all their parks showing walking tracks, fire breaks and facilities. I would imagine that would be the same in all states. Other than that I would suggest trying a bushwalkers forum or supply site or the local bushwalker or bird group.

Hi Bushanwater, Thanks for the helpful suggestions.I'll try the EPA as well as the library.
I was very impressed with NSW on my recent trip there, great maps free of charge at the tourist info. with tracks clearly marked on them, I'm hoping to find something similar here in VIC.

National Parks will have walking maps for each park.
Look in tourist offices in the area where you go as well because they have national park brochures.
Also in NSW you can get Foresty maps that are excellent..
link: down the bottom of the page. highly recommended..
