Finally found the elusive Glossy Ibis at Sydney Olympic Park. The pond had almost dried up but there was plenty of good pickings of insects in the mud. The one with the white streaked neck is a juvenile bird.

They are very interesting birds. I haven't seen any down here in Victoria. That doesn't mean there aren't any??
Beautful colour combination, the green, grey and purple. Love the photos, thanks for showing them to us

They look even more magical in gorgeous late afternoon light. I photographed a pair of young ones on the grass near the function center at Lake Belvedere on June 2 last year.
Where were these? Haslam's Pier?
I understand Glossy Ibis is an uncommon species in Victoria & SA, Araminta. I've seen them at Bool Lagoon near Naracoorte in SA so I presume they might be seen on the edge of lakes in western Victoria, too.
At the "triangular ponds" ... between Bennelong Parkway and the old part of the road that has been closed off which runs straight up alongside the waterbird refuge. Just east of where Bennelong Parkway intersects with Majorie Jackson Parkway. They are small little ponds.
Lovely shots, the only Ibis that has eluded me so far, when I capture one,I hope I do them justice like you have.

Thank you. I am familiar with the triangle pond
Wonderful! So glad you found them, and just as pleased you could share them WhistlingDuck as they're not one I am likely to see any time soon sadly, so thankyou!

Such an interesting contrast with the other ibis we get.
Lovely! I've never noticed those colours in them - just seen them as black/grey from a distance and somewhat less common than the ubiquitous sacred ibis around here.
Cheers

Thanks for the comments ... very beautiful reddish/brown colours under the wings as well when they flew off together with the white ibis. So they must all be good buddies.
I must admit I have not noticed the purple and grey in them either as your photo shows . Well done for sharing that, my only shots were taken in harsh sunlight and I think I miss the colour tones. At the time I hadnt realised it was even lucky sighting
