Grey Goshawk

Having a run of good fortune with raptors recently. Today when I visited the Bell Miner nest, I spotted a raptor shape in a big gum tree on the other side of the creek. Was hard to get a clear view of it, but soon i saw another close by in same tree  - juvenile Grey Goshawks, a new species for me.

A bit later a parent landed on a different branch with what looks like a small ringtail (?) possum. For once I was lucky with branches, and there was a gap in the branches and I was able to get a shot of it. Strangely the juveniles didnt seem very interested in the arrival of parent and/or food, and the parent didnt take the kill to them.

Thanks devster.

I couldnt really get a clear view of the parent at all - i was just very pleased to be able to get it through the trees.
