I was lucky with another photographer to have been able to shoot the bird from a car totally by ourselves for close to two hours in late, perfect, light on Monday afternoon. At times, it got so close that we were barely able to fit it all in the frame. It was very skittish as well, so trying to approach it prone or on foot was pretty much useless.
It is a pretty bird and fortunately for me, just down the road from home. I personally would not bother travelling silly distances for just one bird, irrespective of how rare it is. Plenty of good stuff keeps me busy near Penrith as it is.
Nice photos Akos. I would love to come down to see it, but alas, a job, wife and 3 kids prevents me from doing such silly things. Although it is my birthday this weekend, wonder if I could use that as leverage lol.
Great photos. Unfortunately when I went they were not letting people in anymore in preperation for the music festival that is there this weekend.
Music festival :( bye bye birdie
You never know Devster. Strange things do happen.
Yes Tim, my mates from the Blue Mountains Bird Observers said that yesterday too.
That damned Defqon is the most annoying doof-doof crap music thing I have ever heard. Hope the wind's blowing away from us.
