Headscratcher of a SE QLD bird.

Had a lovely day out at Daisy Hill Forest today (took a day off work, and went bird-watching). Found lots of interesting things, including an Echidna madly burrowing itself under a tree. (first time I've seen one in the wild in a long time) But to business...

I came across this odd little bird that I've been unable to identify using several bird books, and the Birdfinder. Reminded me a bit of a Leaden Flycatcher in its colouring, but... hmm.

It was sitting quite high up in a tree when I saw it. The photo may not show it took well, but its chest is quite tan-brown. I guess it would be about the size of a robin with a longer tail.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

It's a Fan-tailed Cuckoo.

Thanks , I had to google "Neato", I guess you made a compliment wink

I found this explanation:

neato 1) 'awesome!' 2) 'cool beans!' 3) 'cool!' 4) 'gee, that's swell!' 5) 'groovy!' 6) 'i'm impressed!' 7) 'keen!' 8) 'marvy!' 9) 'nifty!' 10) 'outta sight!' 11) 'peachy keen ...

so I just pick the one I like best?

Well, you can choose. I kind of meant numbers 1, 3, 6, or maybe 10. Or all of the above. :)

That's awesome, windshear. Particularly seeing an echidna in the wild there.

I love Daisy Hill for mountain biking, but forget to use it as an area to just walk and enjoy.

Cheers
