Saw these two birds this afternoon in Shepherds Hill Conservation Park.
First bird I have only seen well in the distance before but was lucky enough to get a shot today. Some sort of Currawong?
Second bird no idea, can't find anything in my field guide (Flegg)
Grey Currawong & White-browed Babbler. That's great if Shepherd's Hill Conservation Park has a population of the latter. I wouldn't have expected that. If you want to see some hijinks take a chair to where the White-browed Babblers are & sit & watch. They're great fun.
Thanks Woko,
Saw about half a dozen of the Babblers in a group but they moved around fairly quickly and were very shy, as was the Currawong.
Further to a discussion we had earlier about olive trees in the park, I had a good look today and they are established over a wide area.
Some have been poisoned but it looks like a losing battle.
Great photos rick, I also agree with woko on the identifications.
Getting rid of Olives requires a lot of persistence. Once they've been cut & swabbed they need frequent & regular follow-up to deal with any shoots. They're a scourge across the Adelaide foothills & elsewhere.
