This fellow wakes me delightfully each morning with its varied call to action.
I haven't been able to see it, though.
Can someone identify it, please?

Think it's a black bird.
Wimmera mally region, Vic.
Sounds like a Common Blackbird to me, too. It's an introduced species & competes with Australian native birds.
You haven't said where you live, Ian, but there are many Australian birds which have even more beautiful calls than the introduced Blackbird such as the Rufous Whistler, Golden Whistler & Grey Shrike-thrush. You might want to give thought to protecting & improving the habitat of birds such as these.
Brown song larks have a beautiful call. I here them that much that I got the tune stuck in my head!
