Hello all. I'm fairly new into the bird identification world (always enjoyed their company when lazing in a garden, but never been one to learn what each one is). I've decided to broaden my knowledge though and am now taking an active interest into what bird I am seeing/hearing, with an aim to photograph as many different species of birds (and other wildlife too) as possible.

hello where are you and how is the photography going?
Peter
Hi Peter,
I am living in Wollongong at the moment. The photography has only recently started, I'm not that keen a photographer in all honesty so I don't own an SLR or anything fancy like that, I'll be mainly just using my Samsung Compact Camera (It's more than good enough for the type of photos I usually take!) I'm not going to be entering my photos into any competitions or anything, just as a personal reminder of the birds I have actually seen!

Bazz..that is how we started..just taking a photo of birds we chanced by.
Now the tally is about 85 local birds and I NEVER would have thought the local wetlands (a glorified storm water drain) had that much to offer.
We are hooked and my other half is getting a new camera for his birthday this week.
:O)
Welcome Baz, you will soon be hooked. Be sure to have a camera handy if you travel the Jamberoo Mountain road as Lyrebirds are often there. Also worth a visit is the Cambewarra Lookout where the hanggliders take off. once you start looking the variety is amazing. Sue
I have seen them on Macquarie Pass too - of course there is nowhere to stop there to photograph them.
Hi Baz, welcome to the forum.
Thanks all.
