How Cute Is This

This Rufous Fantail was such a show pony. I was concentrating my efforts in trying to photograph an Eastern Whipbird which was agitated about a big Goanna nearby and this little fella was darting around near me looking for attention and at one stage landed so close to me about an arms length away, too close for a photo and eventually moved to a better position to be photographed so I took some photos and didn't realise it thought it was in a fashion shoot.

A little ham.  But what a gorgeous pic.  How do you get them to pose for you like that?  Wish I had such a skill :)

Haha, this is so funny. The only other place I've seen that before,is on TV, in programs like "the farmer wants a wife", the eyes get big and round when they say: take me, take me.

That's the same look in the eyes of that bird: can I come home with you?

(back to the photo, it is great)

First up it must be a she, males just don't know how to steal the show like females can and I think she must have seen a reflection of herself in my lens because if she had looked over the lens and seen my dial her feathers would have dropped off. I think I might get this one enlarged as I haven't done this as yet and with that look you never get sick of looking at it.

Great eye contact. I've had that happen once or twice with grey fantails  - you spend so much time trying to get close enough to get a good photo of a small bird and every so often one gets too close to focus

These birds are so cute. I've been darted at by four different rufous fantail's a few times and always in the the same areas. I guess their nests or young are close by. The other day I was watching the whipbird and a rufous fantail flew straight at me and I didn't notice until it was close to my face. I didn't have time to react, well, it was more like a delayed reaction. lol But, they can swoop me all they want and I will still think they're cute!!
