So who's up for a challange? I saw this one at Gum Swamp near Forbes NSW on the weekend. I have no idea what it is. It was a little bigger than a White-plumed Honeyeater. Thoughts? Thanks.

I'd go for female Golden Whistler.

+1 for Golden Whistler hen
Peter
My vote is for the Golden whistler as well - female of course.
I don't agree :) i reckon male Rufous whistler (inland form). Note the grey back compared to the more browny back of the golden. The wing coverts also have those exaggerated dark centres with pale edges while the golden lacks such distinct feathers. The Rufous Whistlers inland are much more pale so you would expect a lighter throat patch and buff on the belly as in the third photo.
Cheers, Owen.
I can't see the black breast band that should continue acroos the face to the lores for a male bird
Peter
Yes, quite correct, I'm thinking young male that hasn't developed the band yet because the female rufous has streaks.
Cheers, Owen.
You are right Owen, (as you always are!), I did wonder about the grey instead of brown colour. Tanks Owen, I learned something.
