Hi Tim, It was in the backyard under a flowering red grevillea. There are many birds here, too many to list but incl. Bower birds, eastern rosella, red browed finch, king parrots, Leeuwins Honeyeater, many many white ornamental cockatoos. No Rainbow Lorikeets though. Its mid-Blue Mountains.
I think you're right. Rainbow lorikeet. Thanks zozterops as well. I didn't expect that because we just don't see them in this new garden. Thank goodness. Pretty but can be a bit overwhelming. Its a lovely feather.

I would say that it is either a Rainbow lorikeet's feather or a Scaly-breasted lorikeet's feather. Maybe a lorikeet visited your garden?
