I don't have other Rufous Songlark pics to compare it to
I am working in Port Macquarie with just my Morecombe Field Guide so will wait until this weekend when I am back in my Qld house with access to my other books
My God I tried to make the photo small and ended up larger. the Rufous Songlark has similarities to this one but I am not sure about the darker blotchy colouration on the throat area as well as pink or orange legs.
You weren't exactly overwhelmed with responses on this one, pacman. I wondered if it's a rufous songlark.
Woko
thanks for the suggestion

Look for the dark line through the eye, pacman.
Well this is a tough one. Need to do some research but going by the long tail, Iam going to go with a Tawny Grassdird
See it! Hear it!

thanks

Do you remember hearing calls from this bird Peter. Tawny Grassbird sounds good from the overall shape to me as well.
Peter you helped me identify this photo of a Tawny Grassbird a while ago and I don't think it is one of these.

thanks all for your helpful comments
I do not recall any song from the bird and there is/was not a lot of colour on the head, back or wings
it might be a pic that I should say is not sufficient for an ID and then consign it to the -------- bin
