Hi everyone. I'm in the outer Adelaide Hills. Apologies for the poor quality, not the best pics for IDs but they are the best images I have. I was out in the garden this morning with my camera and saw these birds, which I was having trouble working out what they are. I hope someone can shed some light. Thanks very much.
This January, I have been keeping a list, my goal is to ID a different bird everyday. I am surprised at how difficult it is for just one month. I kept magpies, blackbirds, galahs for emergency days where there was nothing else. Only a couple of days left, so I may not even need to use them. I'm now thinking of what to do for February.
Juvenile Grey Fantail & juvenile Blackbird, I'd say Winter Daize.
I always forget how speckled young blackbirds are.
Hi Winter Daize,
There is a site called bird-a-day which allows birders to keep track of and try for a different bird every day of the year (or however long you want- I'm aiming for 2 months). You may be interested in having a look, maybe for next year or trying for a period sometime through the year

Thanks Ryu. I think that's the website I saw which got me thinking about it. I was going to just see how long I could do it for but decided to set myself a different bird related challenge every month. I've decided for February, I'll spend 15 mins a day sketching birds every day. Sketching is good because it makes you notice detail. I will do a bird a day again later in the year. March might be 20 min birdbath survey everyday...we're expecting a warm, dry March. Good luck with your 2 month challenge. At least Feb is.a short month.
That sounds like a great idea.
I'm in yr 11 so once school starts it becomes really quite hard to not spend some of the easier species.
