At Mandurah (Mariner's Cove/Creery Wetlands), WA. Some kind of plover? Second pic shows size in comparison with a Grey Plover.
And ... is this a Rock or an Elegant Parrot. Juvenile I think.

I always have difficulty with sea birds, but is it the common sandpiper?
In relation to the parrot, if I didn't know WA is way outside its range I'd almost be inclined to say that's a juvenile orange-bellied parrot (without the orange belly) on the basis of its grass-green colour. The rock parrots I've seen have been an almost golden brown colour & the elegant parrots with which I'm familiar are golden-olive. Morcombe says that there's a subspecies carteri of elegant parrot in WA & I'm wondering if this subspecies is more green than golden-olive than the subspecies elegans which is in SA & Vic. I'm very interested to hear what other members might think.
The first bird is a Greater or Lesser Sand Plover. Based on apparent bill size & shape, my guess would be Lesser, but it's difficult to judge in photos, particularly when the view of the bill is not dead square on from the side.
Thanks Steve, I was thinking Lesser Sand Plover (also gels with photo in Birds of the Greater South West (WA) Simon Nevill).
I'm still leaning towards a Rock Parrot.
