These birds we saw around Condamine and the thornbill at Yetman - not good photos unfortunately, so they may remain a puzzle to us. I wonder if the raptor is a Whistling Kite? and the smallest one some sort of a Thornbill? The other one (two photos) I have no real idea - wondered about a treecreeper, but not at all sure.

Birds around Condamine and Yetman
Oops that is the 'maybe Thornbill' one - have to look for the others.

This one is a puzzle - same bird two photos. He wouldn't stay still for a photo!

This is the raptor.

Hi Meave, one possibility for the stripey bird is Striped Honeyeater? And I agree that the raptor looks like a Whistling Kite.
Thanks Andy, we haven't had a striped honeyeater before, when I look at it is certainly does look possible. I did think the raptor looked as if it could be a whistling kite, nice to have you agree to that. It wouldn't fly of course even though that seems to be the usual reaction to seeing a camera produced! I would have liked to see more of the wing pattern, still I like the whistling kite ID. We had a good time up in that area, but it was so smokey it got very hard on the eyes. There is a bridge just as you go into Texas with a lovely rest area, it was delightful walking along the river there, would have stayed longer to find birds except for the smoke. Haven't been there before but will go again. Condamine was nice, friendly little caravan park and a nice lagoon close by with a few birding opportunities too.

Hi Meave, thanks for sharing the location info. It's nice to hear about birding locations - not just the birds that are there, but also the other aspects (nice caravan park etc).
1 - some kind of Thornbill
2 - Striped Honeyeater for sure
3 - Whistling Kite for sure.
Nice sightings. :-)
Thanks Windhover, we did get a few other birds (among them a Horsfield's bronze-cuckoo which we hadn't seen before, nice.)
