My Simpson and Day says this bird is uncommon. I'm 100% positive there is a nesting pair in the town of Marian right on Mackay-Eungella Road. They are in a tall evergreen tree just west of the Police station.
I was on my way back from the park and I spotted them as I was driving through town. I turned around at the police station and went back towards the park. I'll pulled over on the road and watched them in my Bino's for about 10 minutes. This is a very distinctive bird. There is no way I could screw up the identification.

These birds are quite common around Queensland Chris so there is every chance they are Brahminys. They are very distinctive aren't they.
Cheers, Owen.
Just ask Tassie..he sees them regularly up there.

I emailed him about it right after I posted it. I guess you can't believe everything you read in your bird books.
I just read the uncommon tag in the S @ D. I guess , they are uncommon when compared to OTHER BOP LOL.
I have seen a few around here and I would say they are the most beautiful of all the BOP.... I even know where there is a nest but I would need to be Jack and have a bean stalk to get close to it! :')
Mybe someone could explain to both of us how the categories of C and UC etc in the S & D are arrived at .
Hoep you see and photograph them again , they are challenging with the white breast ....but awesome.

These birds are very common around Iluka NSW as are Ospreys. Almost every pole in the distrct has an Osprey nest atop of it, there is even one in the CBD on a communications tower.
The Kites are more secretive with thier nests but there must be several around because there are plenty of Kites. Ray
