Cental Vic Bird IDs

Hi Guys,

Need help with an identification (sorry no photo). The bird was the size and shape of an Oriole - but no red beak. Brown/Olive back with light coloured chest with dark striations. The bird appeared to be hanging around with a group of cuckoo shrikes, and was a similar size and shape.

Also, is the cuckoo-shrike a white bellied or black faced (female) in the below picture?

Amateur

It sounds like a female figbird?

Thanks Amateur,

I had dismissed the fig bird because I thought they were tropical birds. After reading your comment though, I looked again at my bird book and they are vagrants in my area. It did look a lot like the picture of the figbird. Thanks - an unusual bird for our property.
