Flycatcher id

Hi,

A friend of ours took this photo at our place this week. He was a bit of a distance away and moving around a lot so not entirely in focus, but if anyone is able to id the flycatcher we'd be interested to know if he is a leaden or satin. We are in the Kilmore area in Victoria.

Thanks

Hi edward,I think, one way of telling the difference is, the Satin Flycatcher's call (song) is a lot louder than the Leaden Flycatcher's call. Does that help?

Hi Araminta,
I had read that about the call....but as I don't know either call, it is a bit hard to judge whether the call I heard was loud or soft. I think we're just going to have to try and find them again and get a bit closer.

Hi Edward
Picture 'says' Leaden to me.

Agree Leaden. Black doesn't appear extensive enough for Satin.

Thanks Ed and Ashywolf,
Just had a look at acouple of other field guides, and see what you mean re the amount of black. This wasn't obvious in my old Simpson & Day.

Thanks for your help.
