Help with ID please?

This photo was taken in Finch hatton (about 60 km west of Mackay) and is the only one we could get - sorry about the quality. Any ideas about ID?

G'day Meave, it might be a Golden-headed Cisticola? The streaked crown suggests that it is a non-breeding male (or perhaps a female).

Regards,
Andy.

Thanks Andy, I couldn't decide what it might be - grassbird types do confuse me. It had what looked like a different tail, maybe just the wind. Little beggar didn't want to be photographed anyway. and yes, health is fine now, thanks for asking.

Hi Meave,

I totally know what you mean about the different grassbirds. I've often looked at a photo that I've taken and wondered whether it's of a Tawny Grassbird or a G-h Cisticola. I know that there is a significant size difference, but when a bird flies quickly through the grass and there's no other bird to which to compare it, hours later when looking at the photo, it's hard to determine its size. So I know what you mean.

And yes, it does have an interesting tail shape. I've taken a few photos that show a similar tail shape.

Looking forward to seeing other photos from your trip.

Regards,
Andy.
