Thats a immature female Common Koel (brown not red eye tells us it's an immature bird)It appears to be an intermediate coloured bird between the light and dark forms but with a bit more age it may prove to be the dark form.

Hi again Ed, so this is a Koel no a Cuckoo? We have seen quite a few Koel's in the past couple of years, only the Black ones. Very noisy too!!

Koels are type of cuckoo, Black bird is the male.Yes very noisy. We have had up to 4 pairs playing tag around the trees in our backyard. Not this year, seems to be fewer about in Townsville.
