I don't think there are any other birds in Aus with the black hood and white breast? I think you're right, if it's really vocal then it probably is. Have you seen any golden whistlers around before?
Yes Amateur they were calling everywhere inside the forest. Couldn't see any though as the light was very poor and they were so high and well hidden. This one was the first thing I heard after getting out of the car in the car park..... needless to say the rest of our party did the walk without me as it took me half an hour just to get out of the car park and onto the bush walk!!
I think the guys from down in Mexico are right .. they are pretty common..... just haven't been aware of them before. Now I seem to catch them everywhere.....maybe it is just the season
