Finally got a decent shot of this little bird who frequents the back garden near my BR window. I can't find anything to help me. It looks like the same type as one I rescued earlier in the year when the noisy miners saved it from a cat attack.
Can anyone help me to ID it?
cheers

Looks kind of like a Brown Gerygone, not sure though.
Or perhaps female or juv house Sparrow, take a look at this pic, they look similar. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1430/949016479_b0bcf8de39.jpg?v=0
And Now i'm not sure about the gerygone, because the BG has a very white front while that one seems quite dark.
Definitely not a house sparrow. I'll have to look through my previous posts and see what Denis said that last one was ,

Hi Birdie. Could it be a Grey Shrike-Thrush. They don't have a hooked beak but the one in you'r pic may have something in it's beak.Ray
Hi Rayn definitely not that bird. I haven't heard that call in the area at all. i think it is much smaller than the GS thrush anyway. By the way, can you have a look under my post in interesting sightings and confirmfor me that it was a white goshawk?
Everyone must be on holiday or rushed off their feet at the moment!! :)

After hours trolling through Simpson and Day and crss referencing on BIBY to hear calls etc, I have decided that it is a female golden whistler. I can't say I have noticed such a definitive call, but there are times when I think I can hear a whip bird without the right "whip" and that could be it I guess.

Hi Birdie, I'm not able to see your pictures because I am on computer which is not my own and the Flickr site is on they're banned list. I am at least able to see some photos but not yours. I never thought of Little Brown Bird.

That is strange Guzzi. I thought with the links you would be ok but I guess it is downloading the info and that is why they ban it so that the downloads aren't too big.
Do you have a computer at home?
You could check it out there if you do.

Hi Birdie, I do have another computer in my room but the internet runs out after 1gig of data so I can't use it too much.

Little black bird, little brown bird, they're all the same :), lol, I feel for you Guzzi, recenlty only had 2 gigs of usage and that was bad enough...
So do we know what it is yet??
Birdie - I'm voting for the Female Golden Whistler.
The tail is right, black eye is bright and colour pretty right too. The 'hook" on the beak doesn't look right for a hooked beak and I think there could be something sticking to the end of it.
Hi everyone
Yes, I think it is a golden whistler female. haven't seen her for a while. I can sympathise with you too guzzi as we are monitoring uploads and downloads at the moment and somehow we are showing 300mb of upload between 2am and 7am !
Definitely not accurate!
That is why it is good to reduce the images before uploading to BIBY too.
Have a great Xmas guys

@ Lyn, the hook at the tip of the upper mandible is the clincher for female Golden Whistler.

Thanks so much for the link Al. Yes that is definitely her. There is something so noticeable about the eye, it seems larger and darker than other birds.
I enjoyed looking through the different pics on that Canberra site. I will use that in future too. I find that some of the pics on BIBY are not easy to pick an ID from at times.
