Perth park

I have never seen this bird here before and would like some information, please. It was in a Perth City Park.
Bird looks like a finch, approx 75mm, olive green with white spots/bars on head and yellow stripes over eyes.
It was on the ground amongst plants and debris.
I did not have a camera and the bird was quite quick so sorry, no pic.
I am not a 'bird-watcher' as such but love to see birds around me.
All help is much appreciated.
