Hi I'm trying to identify this juvenile bird I found today. Very distinct markings on chest, not sure if the colours on it's back and tail feathers were reflections of sunlight? My husband wondered if it was a young Bristlebird? Mmmm I have no idea how to add my photos?? I'm sure if I could get them on here someone will be able to identify this bird!!
Hi Rae and welcome :)
There is some info on the forum about how to attach photos but basically you need to upload the photo to a site like Photobucket or Flickr and copy the http: code that it gives you for the photo (it will end in .jpg). Then you type (without the spaces) [ img ] paste the code [ / img ].
It is a bit fiddly to get right the first time but see how you go.
Thankyou for answering so quickly! I don't have photobucket or flickr but i do see a code so i will give it a try. I do have picasa if this doesn't work
Hi Rae - you need to sign up to photobucket.com or flickr.com and upload your photo up there rather than uploading directly from you computer.
We do have an attach option but that is only in photography thread for the moment (we are in the middle of a site upgrade)
thanks Holly I'll have to have a look at it tomorrow, right now it all sounds a bit complicated!!
Its all a bit daunting the first time - but I promise you will get the hang of it.
You can also email it to me, I will upload it to my account and post it for you tomorrow.
Ok mystery solved!! (thanks to your website, birdfinder,) Pretty sure it is a young 'Horsfield's Bronze Cuckoo'. Thanks for your help Holly, not sure if the photos I sent last night went through. I will have a play today and try to set up the right way to post photos for any future sightings I'm unsure of!Also would like to add one for my profile picture! For now I have another bird species to add to my ever increasing list of beautiful birds that visit! We've only been living in the hills for 3 years and absolutely loving all the birds!
